FAQ

Practical questions about working together.

For a fuller explanation of what therapy itself is like, see Considering Therapy.

Services

What services do you offer?

Three. Individual Psychotherapy is the main part of my practice. Couples Therapy is for partners who want to work on the relationship together. Professional Coaching is a separate service for bounded professional decisions and situations.

How do I know whether I need psychotherapy or coaching?

If the question can stay focused on options, trade-offs and action, coaching may be enough. If the same decision is tied up with anxiety, relationships, self-worth or a recurring personal pattern, psychotherapy usually gives us more useful scope.

Describe the situation when you contact me. I will tell you what I think fits.

Do you only work with men?

No. The practice is positioned mainly towards men in technology, startups, business and other demanding careers. I also work with other adults where the fit is appropriate.

Do you only work with people in technology?

No. Technology is the professional environment I know most deeply. I also work with founders, business owners, executives and people in other demanding careers.

Do you work with couples?

Yes. Couples Therapy is a separate service from individual psychotherapy.

Individual Psychotherapy

How long is a psychotherapy session?

Usually 50–60 minutes.

How often do we meet?

I normally work weekly for at least the first few months. After that, we can review frequency together.

Consistency matters. Therapy is hard to develop if sessions only happen occasionally when something has become urgent.

Am I committing to a fixed number of sessions?

No. You can stop whenever you choose.

I do ask people to begin with a realistic view of psychotherapy. It usually needs continuity, especially early on.

How long does therapy take?

There is no standard duration. Some people come around a particular period or issue. Others continue for longer because the therapy becomes broader. We review that as the work develops.

Can I take a break or stop?

Yes. Where possible, I prefer that we talk about ending or taking a break rather than simply disappearing.

Couples Therapy

How long is a couples session?

There are two common formats. Weekly sessions usually last 50–60 minutes. Biweekly sessions can last 90 minutes. We agree the structure before ongoing work begins.

Do we need to be close to separation before starting?

No. Couples come with recurring conflict, emotional distance, trust problems and other relationship difficulties well before separation.

Can I come alone about my relationship?

Yes. That would normally be Individual Psychotherapy.

What if one of us is more interested in therapy than the other?

That is common. Equal enthusiasm is not required. Both people do need enough willingness to participate honestly.

Fees

How much does it cost?

I don’t publish one universal fee because my fees vary depending on the circumstances and location of the work. I tell you the relevant fee before we agree to begin.

Why not list a single price?

Because it would be inaccurate for some clients.

Starting

What happens when I contact you?

Send a short description of what brings you here and where you are currently located. I read it myself. If the situation falls within what I offer, we arrange an initial conversation.

Do I need a diagnosis?

No.

What if I cannot explain the issue clearly?

A simple description is enough. “I cannot switch off,” “my relationship is going badly,” or “I keep thinking about leaving” all work as starting points.

What if you think I need something different?

I will say so. Another therapist, doctor, specialist service or different form of support may be more appropriate.

How I work

What kind of psychotherapy do you practise?

My training is in integrative counselling and psychotherapy. I draw from different therapeutic perspectives according to the person and the issue rather than running everyone through one fixed model.

Will you give me advice?

Sometimes. I also make observations and ask direct questions. Important life decisions remain yours.

Are sessions structured?

There is enough continuity that we should both understand what we are working on. I don’t run every client through a standard programme.

Will we talk about childhood?

If it helps explain something active in the present. We start with the issue that brought you in.

Can I talk about work in psychotherapy?

Yes. Work is part of life.

Can we move between psychotherapy and coaching?

Potentially, where that is appropriate. The change is discussed explicitly.

Language and location

Are sessions online?

Yes. My work is primarily online by video.

What languages do you work in?

Greek and English. Sessions can take place in either language or move between them naturally.

Can you work with me if I live abroad?

Possibly. Professional rules depend on where both therapist and client are located. Tell me where you are currently based and I will confirm before ongoing therapy begins.

Confidentiality

Is psychotherapy confidential?

Yes, within the professional and legal limits that apply. Those limits are explained before ongoing work begins.

Do you use clinical supervision?

Yes. Clinical supervision is a normal part of responsible psychotherapy practice and is handled confidentially.

Are you BACP registered?

Yes. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Is this a crisis service?

No. I don’t provide emergency psychiatric or crisis-response services. If you or somebody else is in immediate danger, use the appropriate emergency or crisis service where you are located.
